101 Copenhagen
101 Copenhagen is a Danish design brand where Scandinavian restraint meets Japanese minimalism. Founded in 2017, its furniture, lighting and decorative objects are defined by sculptural forms, strong architectural references and a particular sensitivity to material, texture and proportion.
At RB12, the collection centres on some of the brand’s most distinctive designs: sculptural coffee and side tables, console tables, dining and lounge seating, ceramic and glass vases, candleholders and the expressive Drop Chandelier. From the organic Ishi tables and monumental Big Foot collection to the architectural Daiku seating and hand-finished vases, each piece is designed to carry presence without unnecessary decoration.

101 Copenhagen Furniture, Lighting & Home Accessories at RB12
101 Copenhagen creates furniture and objects with the presence of small pieces of architecture. Strong geometry, softened organic forms and tactile surfaces run throughout the collection, producing designs that can stand alone as sculptural objects while still serving a clear function within the home.
The 101 Copenhagen collection at RB12 has a particularly strong furniture focus, including coffee tables, side tables, console tables, dining chairs, lounge seating and stools, alongside ceramic and glass vases, candleholders, dining accessories and statement lighting.
Scandinavian Design Meets Japanese Minimalism
Founded in 2017, 101 Copenhagen is a Danish design brand rooted in Scandinavian design traditions and influenced by Japanese minimalist aesthetics. Rather than treating those influences as separate styles, the brand brings them together through an emphasis on material, proportion, craftsmanship and simplicity.
Architecture, sculpture and different periods of design history also play an important role. Brutalism, Art Deco, modernism and traditional Asian craft references can all be found across individual collections, translated into furniture and objects with a distinctly contemporary character.
Designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl
101 Copenhagen's two main designers are Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl. Their different backgrounds help explain the layered character of the collection.
Hyldahl brings experience from fashion and an interest in colour, material and references from different periods of design, while Hansen's time studying and living in Japan informs the brand's relationship with Japanese aesthetics and Danish design. Together, their work moves between function, sculpture and architecture rather than following one fixed visual formula.
101 Copenhagen Coffee Tables & Side Tables
Coffee and side tables form one of the strongest parts of the 101 Copenhagen collection at RB12. These are not simply surfaces placed in front of a sofa; shape, material and mass are used to make the table an important part of the wider composition of the room.
The 101 Copenhagen Ishi Coffee Table takes its name from the Japanese word for “rock”. Soft edges and an organic silhouette give the collection a grounded quality, with RB12 offering Ishi across ceramic and mouth-blown glass interpretations.
For a stronger architectural statement, the 101 Copenhagen Big Foot Coffee Table draws on Brutalist architecture and contemporary sculpture. Thick cylindrical legs create an impression of substantial weight, while the fibre-concrete construction provides a more manageable alternative to solid stone or conventional concrete.
RB12 also carries the Phantom and Crown table collections, extending the choice from softly monolithic forms through to more architectural and material-led designs.
Architectural Console Tables
101 Copenhagen's console tables demonstrate how strongly architecture influences the brand. Arches, repeated geometry and shifts in depth create furniture that works particularly well in entrance halls, behind sofas and against long uninterrupted walls.
The 101 Copenhagen Bow Console is inspired by the rhythm and strength of Roman aqueducts. Repeated arches give the design its distinctive silhouette, balancing the impression of architectural weight with long, elegant proportions.
The Arc collection approaches architecture differently, taking cues from Art Deco and using stepped forms and arches to generate depth and changing shadows across the surface.
Dining Chairs, Lounge Chairs & Sculptural Seating
The seating available from RB12 continues the same sculptural approach, moving between solid timber forms and upholstered architectural volumes.
The 101 Copenhagen Daiku Dining Chair is built around two visually distinct interlocking volumes: seat and backrest. Their subtle separation creates a floating quality that offsets the otherwise monolithic shape, while rounded edges and upholstery introduce softness and comfort.
RB12 also carries the Daiku Lounge Chair, extending the same architectural language into lower, more relaxed seating. The Atsu Dining Chair offers a contrasting approach, using an asymmetrical oak structure inspired by traditional Chinese chairs, while the Brutus Stool draws on Brutalist architecture and Japanese furniture references.
101 Copenhagen Vases as Sculptural Objects
Vases are another important part of the 101 Copenhagen assortment at RB12. Rather than acting only as vessels for flowers, many are conceived as decorative sculptures, using silhouette, glaze and texture to create interest even when displayed empty.
The 101 Copenhagen Guggenheim Vase combines slender proportions with sharp geometric lines, creating a three-dimensional surface that changes as it is viewed from different directions.
The Wabi collection takes its direction from the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi and celebrates irregularity and imperfection. Cobra takes a much more playful route, with soft bodily forms inspired by the Cobra Arts Movement, while Sunao concentrates on simplicity and quieter classical vase proportions.
RB12's selection also includes the Bakku Vase, whose mouth-blown glass form draws on the visual idea of water and gravity, adding another material expression to the collection.
Ceramic, Glass, Oak & Fibre Concrete
Material is central to the character of 101 Copenhagen. Within the pieces currently available from RB12, the collection moves between ceramic, mouth-blown glass, solid oak, fibre concrete, metal and upholstery.
Those materials are often chosen to create a deliberate contrast between visual weight and physical reality. The Big Foot and Bow furniture, for example, use fibre concrete to create the appearance of substantial architectural mass without requiring the weight of solid concrete or stone.
Elsewhere, hand-glazed ceramic and mouth-blown glass introduce natural variations in colour, surface and form. These differences are characteristic of the production process and help give individual pieces their own expression.
The Drop Chandelier
Lighting is represented at RB12 by one of 101 Copenhagen's signature designs: the 101 Copenhagen Drop Chandelier.
Inspired by modernist lighting from the 1950s, Drop uses gently curved shades and multiple adjustable arms to create a composition that can change according to the room. Rather than behaving like a conventional fixed chandelier, its arms can be positioned at different angles, allowing the fitting to become a free-flowing sculpture in space.
This makes Drop particularly effective above dining tables, in double-height spaces and in interiors where the light fitting is intended to become a strong visual feature.
From Brutalism to Wabi-Sabi
One of the strengths of 101 Copenhagen is that its collections do not rely on one narrow aesthetic. Different pieces draw from Brutalism, modernism, Art Deco, Japanese philosophy and organic forms, yet a consistent interest in restraint, sculptural volume and tactile material helps them work together.
A Big Foot table can therefore sit comfortably alongside an organic Wabi vase or upholstered Daiku chair without the room feeling like a collection of unrelated objects. Shared proportions, muted material palettes and strong silhouettes create the visual connection.
How to Style 101 Copenhagen
101 Copenhagen works especially well in interiors where a small number of strongly shaped pieces are given space to breathe. Rather than filling a room with competing objects, use one sculptural table, chair, light or vase as an anchor and allow simpler surrounding furniture to support it.
The collection layers naturally with timber, stone, plaster, linen, wool and other tactile surfaces. Darker Coffee and Black finishes can add contrast to pale interiors, while Birch, Bone White, glass and lighter upholstery can keep more compact spaces visually open.
Smaller pieces such as vases and candleholders also offer an easy way to introduce the 101 Copenhagen design language before committing to a larger furniture piece.
101 Copenhagen for Residential & Interior Design Projects
The breadth of the collection makes 101 Copenhagen particularly useful when specifying contemporary residential, hospitality and interior design schemes. Furniture, lighting and decorative objects can be layered together to create a consistent visual language across a room without every piece belonging to the same collection.
RB12 can help with product selection, dimensions, placement, finishes and wider specification when combining 101 Copenhagen with other furniture and lighting brands. Interior designers and other design professionals can also speak to the RB12 team about project and trade requirements.
