KnIndustrie – Design for Cooking, Serving and Sharing

KnIndustrie approaches kitchen and tableware as part of one continuous experience. Rather than separating objects used for preparing food from those brought to the dining table, the brand explores how useful everyday pieces can become part of the presentation, atmosphere and ritual of eating together.

The result is a collection that moves naturally between kitchen and table: glassware designed to feel distinctive in the hand, roasting and serving pieces that do not need to be hidden away, and sculptural centrepieces that combine practical function with strong contemporary form.

Italian Design with a Different Perspective

KnIndustrie was presented in Milan in 2011 and has developed around a distinctly Italian approach to cooking, hospitality and design. Its work brings together industrial expertise, contemporary technology and a design culture rooted in the Made in Italy tradition.

Instead of treating kitchen equipment as purely technical and tableware as purely decorative, KnIndustrie looks for opportunities to combine the two. Materials, proportions and finishes are considered not only around how an object performs, but also around how it looks once food reaches the table.

KnIndustrie Glassware

Glassware is an important part of the KnIndustrie collection at RB12, led by the Lime Line and Sparky designs by Lara Caffi.

Lime Line uses lightweight borosilicate glass and clean, harmonious proportions across different tumbler and drinks-glass formats. Its deliberately reduced form allows the glass itself, and the drink within it, to become part of the table setting rather than competing with surrounding tableware.

The Sparky Glass takes a more expressive approach. Inspired by the traditional champagne coupe, its shallow bowl and long, slender stem reinterpret a familiar celebratory shape with a distinctly contemporary character.

Centrepieces Designed Around the Table

KnIndustrie's centrepieces are designed to do more than occupy the centre of a dining table. They explore how food can be presented, shared and made part of the visual composition of a meal.

The Fusion Centrepiece by Rodolfo Dordoni combines a structured aluminium base with contrasting natural materials, creating a raised serving surface that sits somewhere between functional tableware and a piece of interior design.

The Alzata Rubin Cake Stand by Lara Caffi takes a different approach, bringing together coloured or transparent glass and wood. The contrast between the visual lightness of glass and the warmth of timber allows it to function as both a serving piece and an object worth leaving on display.

The Storm Collection – Utility Meets Art

Several pieces in the RB12 KnIndustrie collection come from Storm, a project that explores the relationship between technical utility, material and artistic expression.

The Vassoi Trays reduce the serving tray to a beautifully simple form, allowing food and table arrangements to become the focus. Available across different sizes, they can move from preparation and service into the centre of the table.

The Girevole Oyster Tray introduces movement into the same idea. Its rotating form is designed for serving food over ice, with a removable internal tray that makes the piece easier to use and clean.

From Oven to Table

The KnIndustrie Teglia Roasting Pan demonstrates one of the ideas that runs throughout the wider brand: an object used for cooking should not necessarily need to disappear before the meal reaches the table.

Part of the Storm collection, Teglia combines the practical requirements of a roasting pan with a pared-back appearance intended to make the transition from oven to serving more natural.

Wine, Champagne and Entertaining

Entertaining also forms an important part of the KnIndustrie approach to the table. The KnIndustrie Champagne Bucket is designed to maintain the temperature of wine, sparkling wine, champagne and other chilled drinks while becoming part of the setting itself.

Combined with pieces such as the Sparky Champagne Glass and KnIndustrie's serving trays, it allows a drinks setting to be assembled from objects that share the same balance of function and visual character.

Small Details for a More Considered Table

Not every KnIndustrie design needs to be a centrepiece. The Poggia Posate Cutlery Rest shows how even a small functional object can contribute to the character of a table setting.

Its compact tile-like form provides a dedicated resting point for cutlery while introducing material and colour through the Manrique finishes available at RB12.

Designed with Leading International Creatives

Collaboration is central to KnIndustrie's design approach. The wider collection has involved internationally recognised designers including Piero Lissoni, Rodolfo Dordoni and Massimo Castagna alongside Lara Caffi, Ivan Tresoldi and other creative collaborators.

That mix of established designers and emerging creative voices allows individual collections to develop their own identities while remaining connected by KnIndustrie's focus on material, functionality and contemporary conviviality.

Materials Made Part of the Design

Material is rarely treated as an afterthought within KnIndustrie's collections. Borosilicate glass gives Lime Line and Sparky their visual lightness, while aluminium, wood, glass, steel and natural stone appear across serving pieces and centrepieces.

Rather than forcing the entire collection into one matching finish, KnIndustrie uses those contrasts deliberately. Glass can sit alongside wood, industrial metal beside stone, and highly functional surfaces alongside more decorative elements.

How to Style KnIndustrie Tableware

KnIndustrie works particularly well as part of a collected rather than perfectly matched table. Pair the clean lines of Lime Line glassware with simple ceramic dinnerware, introduce a Fusion or Rubin centrepiece as a focal point, and use smaller metal serving pieces to bring contrast to timber or stone dining tables.

Because many of the designs are intentionally restrained in shape, individual statement pieces can also be introduced into an existing table setting without requiring an entirely new collection of dinnerware or accessories.
