The Bolia Scribe Wall Light takes the recognisable character of a traditional work lamp and adapts it for spaces where useful directional light is needed without sacrificing a table or floor surface.
Its slender bar, compact wall base and adjustable shade create a functional reading light with a cleaner, more architectural expression.
Designed by Studio Finna
Scribe was designed by Finnish design studio Studio Finna, founded by Anni Pitkäjärvi and Hanna-Kaarina Heikkilä.
The designers reinterpret the familiar work lamp through a more refined silhouette, retaining its practical adjustable light while giving the fitting a sculptural quality that feels at home in contemporary interiors.
An Adjustable Shade
The adjustable shade allows the direction of the light to change according to where Scribe is positioned and how the room is being used.
Angle it towards a book for focused reading light, direct it onto a nearby surface or turn it towards the wall when a softer, more indirect effect is preferred.
A Natural Bedside Reading Light
Scribe works particularly well as a wall-mounted bedside reading lamp, where it provides useful directional light without occupying any of the bedside table.
Using a pair on either side of the bed creates a balanced lighting arrangement while leaving more space for books, a phone, water and other everyday essentials.
Compact 31 x 40 cm Proportions
At approximately 31 cm long and 40 cm high, Scribe has a relatively small footprint on the wall and weighs around 1 kg.
Its compact proportions make it useful in bedrooms, reading corners, hallways and smaller workspaces where a larger wall fitting could feel intrusive.
Made from Iron
The shade, bar and wall base are constructed from iron, creating a consistent material expression across the entire lamp.
Its slim metal structure reinforces the functional work-lamp influence while keeping the overall design precise and visually lightweight.
Four Finishes at RB12
RB12 offers the Scribe Wall Light in Matt Creme Painted Iron, Matt Grey Painted Iron, Matt Black Painted Iron and Matt Antique Brass Plated Iron.
Creme creates the softest appearance, Grey offers a restrained neutral option, Black gives the silhouette greater graphic definition, while Antique Brass introduces a warmer metallic character.
Choose Your Own E14 Bulb
Scribe uses a standard E14 bulb with a maximum wattage of 25W. The bulb is not included.
This allows you to choose the brightness and colour temperature around the way the lamp will be used, whether that is clearer task lighting for reading or a warmer bulb for softer evening illumination.
Dimmable with the Right Bulb
The Scribe Wall Light can be dimmed when fitted with a compatible dimmable E14 bulb and used with a suitable electrical system.
For bedside use in particular, this gives the flexibility to move from practical reading light to a lower evening level without changing the fitting itself.
2.5 Metre Textile Cord
Scribe is supplied with a 2.5 metre textile power cord, providing useful flexibility when positioning the lamp in relation to the nearest socket.
The switch is positioned directly on the wall base, keeping it conveniently within reach when the lamp is installed beside a bed or reading chair.
Beyond the Bedroom
Although Scribe is particularly effective beside a bed, its compact wall-mounted format makes it equally useful elsewhere in the home.
Use it beside a reading chair, above a desk where surface space is limited, along a hallway or within an alcove where directional light is useful but a floor or table lamp would take up valuable space.
