The Bolia Scribe Floor Lamp takes the practical character of a traditional work lamp and gives it a cleaner, more sculptural contemporary form.
Its slender upright profile, compact base and adjustable shade make it as useful for focused everyday lighting as it is as a quiet architectural feature within the room.
Designed by Studio Finna
Scribe was designed by Finnish design studio Studio Finna, founded by designers Anni Pitkäjärvi and Hanna-Kaarina Heikkilä.
Their approach to Scribe combines a recognisable functional lighting archetype with a more refined silhouette, balancing practicality with the understated character associated with contemporary Scandinavian interiors.
An Adjustable Shade
The adjustable shade is one of Scribe’s most useful details, allowing the direction of the light to be changed depending on where the lamp is positioned and how the space is being used.
Angle it towards a book beside a reading chair, direct it onto a nearby surface or reposition it when softer background illumination is preferred.
Designed for Reading Corners
At 133 cm high, Scribe sits naturally beside sofas and armchairs where its adjustable shade can bring useful light closer to the seating position.
The relatively low, focused form also makes it a strong alternative to larger floor lamps where a room needs functional light without introducing a wide or visually dominant shade.
A Compact 22 cm Footprint
Scribe measures approximately 22 cm wide at the base, allowing it to sit comfortably alongside furniture without requiring a large amount of clear floor space.
That compact footprint makes it particularly useful beside an armchair, at the end of a sofa or in smaller reading areas where a conventional floor lamp could feel oversized.
Iron Construction
The shade, upright bar and base are made from iron, giving the floor lamp a consistent material expression from top to bottom.
The slim metal construction helps reinforce Scribe’s work-lamp influence while keeping the overall silhouette visually light and precise.
Four Finishes at RB12
RB12 offers the Scribe Floor Lamp in Matt Creme Painted Iron, Matt Grey Painted Iron, Matt Black Painted Iron and Matt Antique Brass Plated Iron.
Creme creates the softest expression, Grey keeps the lamp restrained and neutral, Black gives the silhouette greater graphic definition, while Antique Brass introduces a warmer metallic finish.
Choose Your Own E14 Bulb
Scribe uses a standard E14 light source with a maximum output of 25W. The bulb is not included, allowing the light source to be selected to suit the room.
Choose the preferred colour temperature and brightness according to whether the lamp will be used primarily for reading, general lighting or a softer evening atmosphere.
Compatible with Dimmable Bulbs
The Scribe Floor Lamp can be dimmed when it is fitted with a compatible dimmable E14 bulb and used with a suitable electrical system.
This gives greater control over the atmosphere of the room while retaining the convenience of a replaceable standard bulb rather than an integrated LED module.
A 3 Metre Textile Cord
A 3 metre textile cord provides useful flexibility when positioning the lamp away from the nearest socket.
The on-cord switch keeps operation straightforward while allowing the form of the lamp itself to remain visually uncluttered.
