Light Through Reflection
The Bolia Reflection Pendant rethinks the relationship between a lamp’s two most fundamental elements: its light source and its shade.
Rather than hiding the LED inside a conventional shade, Reflection separates the two components so the light is directed back towards the aluminium surface above, creating a softer reflected glow and making the interaction between light and shade part of the design.
Designed by Asger Risborg Jakobsen
Reflection was designed by Danish designer Asger Risborg Jakobsen, whose work is shaped by a search for simplicity, function, character and craftsmanship.
The Reflection collection began as a study of the relationship between the light source and shade, reducing the lamp to its essential components and allowing both to remain visibly defined.
Warm 2700K LED Light
Reflection uses an integrated 2700K LED light source, creating a warm quality of illumination suited to dining areas, living spaces and relaxed evening interiors.
The reflected-light principle softens the appearance of the illumination further, helping Reflection create atmosphere without relying on an exposed downward-facing bulb.
732 Lumens of Indirect Light
The integrated LED produces approximately 732 lumens, combining useful illumination with the softer quality created by the reflective aluminium shade.
This makes Reflection especially effective where the pendant is intended to contribute both practical light and visual atmosphere rather than acting purely as a spotlight.
Dimmable in Predefined Steps
Reflection can be dimmed through predefined brightness levels, allowing the light to adapt as the room moves from functional use into a softer evening setting.
Above a dining table, this makes it possible to use brighter illumination when needed before reducing the level later in the evening for a calmer atmosphere.
Three Sizes at RB12
RB12 offers the Bolia Reflection Pendant in three diameters, allowing the scale of the lamp to be matched more closely to the furniture and room beneath it.
- Ø24 cm: compact enough for smaller tables or repeated pendant arrangements
- Ø40 cm: a versatile mid-size pendant for dining tables and kitchen settings
- Ø60 cm: a larger statement format with greater visual presence
Above the Dining Table
Reflection works particularly well above a dining table, where the circular aluminium shade creates a clear visual centre without enclosing the light source inside a heavy form.
Choose one larger pendant for a simple centred composition or use smaller Reflection pendants in repetition across a longer table.
For Kitchen Islands and Repeated Lighting
The Ø24 cm version is especially useful where several pendants are needed without overwhelming the space.
A row of smaller Reflection pendants can create rhythm above a kitchen island or counter while keeping the visual language cleaner and more restrained than a larger collection of solid shades.
Black, Grey or Brass
RB12 offers Reflection in Black Lacquered Aluminium, Grey Lacquered Aluminium and Brass Lacquered Aluminium.
Black gives the pendant its strongest graphic quality, Grey creates a softer architectural expression, while Brass introduces warmth and a more decorative metallic finish.
Lightweight Aluminium Construction
Reflection is made from lacquered aluminium, allowing the circular shade to remain visually slim even in the larger diameter.
The material also provides the clean reflective surface that is fundamental to the way the lamp directs and diffuses its light.
A Long-Life Integrated LED
Bolia specifies a long operating life for the integrated Reflection LED, helping make the pendant suitable for regular everyday use.
The light source is replaceable, although Bolia recommends that replacement is carried out by a qualified professional.
