The Tobevi Wool Rug is a hand-tufted wool rug designed by Ervin Latimer for Finarte. It is built around contrast: a textured loop-pile centre framed by a smooth cut-pile border that runs around the whole rug. The result is a clear graphic structure that still feels tactile and handmade.
A surface that shifts with the light
Tobevi is made in cobalt blue and forest green. In both, the wool yarn changes depth and tone depending on the light and the angle you look from, so the rug looks slightly different as you move through the room.
Loop pile and cut pile
The textured loop-pile centre sits inside a cut-pile border. Latimer compares that border to velvet, and it gives the rug a luxurious, textile-led look. Together the two pile types give the rug its distinctive graphic structure.
Designed by Ervin Latimer
Ervin Latimer worked as a fashion designer before designing textiles, and the Tobevi reflects that. The line between clothing and textile art has always been fluid in his work, and this rug has the sense of a garment pattern made large and tactile.
Wool on a recycled cotton base
Tobevi is crafted from high-quality wool on a sturdy recycled cotton base. It is handmade in India by Finarte’s long-term weaving partners.
Tobevi sizes
Tobevi is available in three sizes:
- 90 x 200 cm: suits a hallway, a bedside or a narrow space, and is also a good size for hanging on a wall
- 170 x 240 cm: works under a coffee table or in a seating area
- 200 x 300 cm: a large rug for an open-plan living space
