A sculptural bowl balanced on a bubble
The Baburu Bowl by 101 Copenhagen reinterprets the traditional Japanese bowl with a small, bubble-like base that makes the bowl appear to balance on top of it. “Baburu” is the Japanese word for bubble, and the whole design follows from that idea: a simple bowl form, lifted slightly and given a playful, sculptural presence.
It is designed to be seen. Placed on a table, shelf or console, it works as an artistic object whether it holds something or not.

The Baburu series was created by designers Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl for 101 Copenhagen. The brand takes inspiration from Scandinavian roots and Japanese minimalism, and the Baburu reflects that: a quiet, simple form with one unexpected detail.
Hand-glazed ceramic
The Baburu Bowl is made from ceramic and finished with a hand-applied glaze. Because it is a natural, hand-glazed product, colours can vary slightly from piece to piece, so no two bowls are exactly identical.
101 Copenhagen’s ceramics are inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, with natural, faded earth tones and tactile finishes.
Three sizes: Mini, Medio and Big
The Baburu Bowl is made in three sizes, so you can choose the scale to suit the surface it will sit on.
- Mini: 20 cm diameter, 10 cm high (0.6 kg)
- Medio: 30 cm diameter, 15 cm high (1.5 kg)
- Big: 43 cm diameter, 18 cm high (3.5 kg)

Where to style it
Coffee tables, shelves and dining areas, and the Big size also suits a console. A single Baburu can act as a statement piece. The three sizes also combine well for a layered, sculptural arrangement.
