Long Pleat brings Le Klint’s century-old hand-folding craft to a distinctly architectural, linear form. Designed by Markus Johansson, the shade is folded by hand from a single sheet of material into a run of precise, even pleats that wrap the light source along its full 110cm length — a shape built specifically to sit above a long surface rather than a single point, whether that’s a dining table, a kitchen island, a boardroom table or any other long run where light and form both matter.
The pleats do double duty: they soften and diffuse light downward for genuinely useful task lighting, while also letting a gentler wash spread upward into the room, so the fixture works equally well lit for dinner or left low for ambience. The shade is suspended from two fine wires, giving it an almost weightless, floating appearance, while the cord is deliberately positioned off to one side — left to hang in a soft, flowing curve for a more sculptural look, or kept straight for something cleaner and more graphic.
An integrated LED light source is built in, with dimming controlled via a knob directly on the lamp or, where wired accordingly, a compatible wall dimmer — so brightness can be adjusted to suit the moment without extra fittings. The shade is available in two finishes: the Standard foil (hard PVC), hard-wearing, UV-resistant and easy to keep clean, or the Paper shade, which gives a warmer quality of light and develops a gentle golden patina with age. Both are hand-folded in Le Klint’s Odense workshop by technicians who train for several years to master the craft.
