The Bolia Daia Sideboard turns practical storage into a strong architectural feature. Long horizontal proportions are anchored by two distinctive vertical supports, creating a sideboard that feels substantial enough to ground a room without relying on heavy decorative detailing.

Designed by Spanish studio Ramos Bassols, Daia takes inspiration from the elegant horizontal architecture of 1950s America. Open and enclosed areas are balanced around the structure, with optional drawers allowing everyday storage to be concealed without losing the clean geometry that defines the collection.

Available in 180 cm and 240 cm widths, with a choice of oak finishes and drawer configurations, Daia can be adapted from a refined dining-room sideboard to a substantial living-room storage piece for larger walls.

Description

Architectural Oak Storage with a Strong Horizontal Form

The Bolia Daia Sideboard is designed around horizontal proportion, clean geometry and practical storage. Its long cabinet body is structured around two distinctive vertical supports, creating a composition that feels more architectural than a conventional storage unit.

Available in two substantial widths, Daia works particularly well along dining-room and living-room walls where a smaller cabinet can feel visually under-scaled.

Designed by Ramos Bassols

Daia was designed by Spanish studio Ramos Bassols for Bolia. The studio describes its work as formally balanced and detail-led, with architecture and craftsmanship providing important sources of inspiration.

For Daia, the starting point was the elegant horizontal architecture of 1950s America. That influence appears in the long, low composition of the cabinet and the way open areas, enclosed storage and drawers are organised around the two vertical legs.

1950s American Architecture Reinterpreted as Furniture

Rather than treating the sideboard as one uninterrupted rectangular box, Ramos Bassols uses changes in mass and negative space to create a more considered piece of furniture.

The result emphasises horizontality, balance and gravity. Long surfaces provide useful storage and display space, while the vertical supports break up the volume and give Daia its recognisable architectural silhouette.

180 cm or 240 cm Daia Sideboard

RB12 offers the standard-height Daia Sideboard in two widths. Both versions share the same 71.5 cm height and approximately 50.5 cm depth.

  • Daia 180: W180 × D50.5 × H71.5 cm
  • Daia 240: W240 × D50.5 × H71.5 cm

The 180 cm model works well where useful storage is required without occupying an entire wall. At 240 cm wide, the larger version has significantly greater architectural presence and is particularly effective in larger dining rooms and open-plan living spaces.

Choose Daia With or Without Drawers

Daia can be specified with different internal and front configurations, including versions with drawers. This allows the storage to be matched more closely to what you actually need to keep inside the sideboard.

Drawers are useful for smaller objects such as cutlery, documents, chargers and accessories, while the larger cabinet areas provide more flexible storage for tableware, books and everyday household items.

The drawer option changes the practical function without disrupting the clean exterior geometry of the design.

Oak Veneer with Solid Oak Structural Details

Daia combines oak veneer cabinetry with solid oak structural components. Bolia specifies oak veneer across the principal cabinet surfaces, while solid oak is used within the supporting structure and legs.

This construction allows the long surfaces of the sideboard to retain a consistent timber expression while solid oak reinforces the areas responsible for supporting the cabinet.

The design is FSC™-certified, and Bolia provides detailed material traceability for the oak and other timber components used within the product.

Three Oak Expressions

RB12 currently offers Daia in a choice of oak finishes, allowing the same architectural design to work in very different interiors.

  • White-Pigmented Oiled Oak
  • Oiled Oak
  • Dark-Pigmented Oiled Oak

White-pigmented oak gives Daia its lightest Scandinavian expression, while natural oiled oak introduces more warmth. The dark-pigmented finish creates a stronger architectural contrast and works particularly well against pale walls, stone and lighter upholstery.

A Sideboard for the Dining Room

Daia is particularly effective in the dining room, where its enclosed storage can be used for tableware, glassware and serving pieces while the long upper surface provides room for lighting, ceramics or artwork.

The 71.5 cm height keeps the surface useful without competing visually with artwork or a mirror positioned above, while the broad 180 cm and 240 cm formats help establish a strong horizontal relationship with the dining table.

Living-Room Storage Without Visual Clutter

In the living room, Daia provides substantial enclosed storage without introducing the visual complexity of open shelving. Everyday objects can remain behind the cabinet fronts while selected pieces are displayed across the long upper surface.

The architectural form also makes Daia particularly effective on a long uninterrupted wall, where a smaller cabinet can look disconnected from the proportions of the room.

Standard Daia or Daia Low Sideboard?

The standard Daia Sideboard shown here is 71.5 cm high, giving it the proportions of a conventional dining or living-room sideboard.

For a lower and more horizontal configuration, explore the Bolia Daia Low Sideboard. At approximately 45.6 cm high, the low version creates a noticeably different relationship with the room and can work particularly well beneath a wall-mounted television or where a lower storage profile is preferred.

Keeping the two versions separate makes it easier to choose the correct proportions for the intended use rather than treating height as simply another small variation.

Made in Europe

Bolia lists the Daia Sideboard as made in Slovenia. The manufacturer also provides component-level transparency for the timber, metal fittings and surface treatments used within the design.

The legs require mounting after delivery, while the main cabinet arrives as the substantial assembled body. Because of the size of the 180 cm and especially the 240 cm version, Bolia recommends checking access through doors, stairs and lifts before ordering.

Designed for Long-Term Storage

Bolia specifies a maximum overall load of approximately 40 kg for the standard Daia Sideboard, with individual shelves rated to approximately 10 kg.

That makes the sideboard suitable for everyday enclosed storage while the wide upper surface can be used to create a more considered display of lighting, artwork and decorative objects.

Part of the Bolia Daia Collection

Daia has developed into a wider storage collection using the same architectural language. Alongside the standard and low sideboards, Bolia has extended the family into additional storage and bedroom furniture.

This makes it possible to repeat the proportions, oak finishes and geometric detailing elsewhere in the home without using exactly the same furniture piece in every room.
