The 101 Copenhagen Big Foot Coffee Table is designed to make an immediate impression. Its broad circular top and thick cylindrical legs create a strong architectural silhouette, giving the table the appearance of a substantial sculptural object at the centre of the room.
Inspired by Brutalist architecture and contemporary sculpture, Big Foot embraces weight, proportion and simple geometry rather than decorative detail. The result is a coffee table that feels bold and substantial without becoming visually complicated.
Inspired by Brutalist Architecture
The Big Foot collection draws directly from the monumental character of Brutalist architecture. Large forms, simplified geometry and substantial cylindrical supports give the table a sense of permanence and visual weight.
Rather than hiding its structure, Big Foot makes the legs one of the defining elements of the design. Their exaggerated scale gives the table its unmistakable identity and creates a strong contrast against softer sofas, armchairs and upholstered furniture.

The Big Foot collection was designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen and Tommy Hyldahl for 101 Copenhagen. Their work often combines Scandinavian simplicity with references to architecture, sculpture and Japanese design.
With Big Foot, that approach is expressed through simple geometry and exaggerated proportions. The design is functional enough for everyday use while retaining the character of a freestanding sculptural object.
Hand-Painted Fibre Concrete
Despite its substantial appearance, the Big Foot Coffee Table is made from fibre concrete rather than traditional solid concrete or stone. The material allows 101 Copenhagen to create the thick proportions and architectural forms that define the collection without relying on a completely solid construction.
Each surface is hand-painted, giving the table subtle variations in tone, brushwork and texture. These small differences add depth to the finish and ensure that the material retains a tactile, crafted quality rather than appearing completely uniform.
Generous 110 cm Proportions
The Big version measures 110 x 110 cm, giving it a generous surface that works particularly well with larger sofas, modular seating and spacious lounge arrangements.
Its 39 cm height keeps the table relatively low in relation to its width, reinforcing the grounded, architectural appearance while providing plenty of usable space for books, trays, decorative objects and everyday essentials.
Texture That Gives the Form Depth
The textured, painted surface is an important part of the Big Foot design. Rather than using a perfectly smooth finish, the table retains subtle visual and tactile variation that helps emphasise the sculptural character of the fibre concrete.

Caring for the 101 Copenhagen Big Foot Coffee Table
Dust the hand-painted fibre-concrete surface regularly using a soft cloth. For routine cleaning, use a damp cloth with a mild, pH-neutral soap before drying the surface thoroughly.
Avoid abrasive pads, solvents and acidic or alkaline cleaning products, as these can damage the hand-painted finish. Spills should be wiped away promptly rather than being allowed to remain on the surface.
Use coasters, mats or felt pads beneath drinks and decorative objects to help protect against stains, scratches and heat marks. 101 Copenhagen also recommends avoiding prolonged exposure to standing water, high humidity, direct sunlight and extreme temperature changes.
