Description
A Designer Bar Trolley That Feels Like Furniture
The Cattelan Italia Tonic Trolley Bar brings together the practicality of a mobile drinks trolley with the presence of a freestanding piece of furniture. Its three asymmetric levels create a distinctive architectural silhouette while providing dedicated surfaces for bottles, glassware and everything needed for serving drinks at home.
Rather than exposing the functional elements, Tonic deliberately disguises them. The wheels sit behind the tall metal surround and the handle is incorporated into the supporting structure, allowing the trolley to retain a clean, sculptural appearance from every angle.
Designed by Tosca Design
Designed by Tosca Design for Cattelan Italia and introduced in 2025, Tonic explores the home bar as part of the wider interior rather than simply as a practical serving accessory.
Its asymmetric arrangement gives the design movement and character without becoming visually complicated. Each level serves a practical purpose, while the combination of different materials creates a richer and more decorative overall composition.
Three Asymmetric Levels
Tonic is arranged across three levels rather than using the more conventional two-shelf format of a traditional drinks trolley. This gives bottles, glasses and bar accessories their own areas while creating a more dynamic visual structure.
At 57 cm wide, 40 cm deep and 80 cm high, the trolley remains compact enough to position alongside a sofa, dining area or within a dedicated entertaining space, while still providing useful storage and serving surfaces.
Ceramic, Wood and Metal in One Design
One of Tonic’s defining qualities is the way three contrasting materials are brought together within a single piece. The two upper surfaces are finished in Cattelan Italia’s Ceramic Marmi collection, the lower shelf introduces the natural warmth of wood, and the entire composition is framed by a metallic-finish structure.
The result is a balance between polished architectural surfaces and warmer natural material, giving Tonic enough visual interest to remain part of the room even when it is not being used for entertaining.
A Choice of Ceramic Marmi Finishes
The upper shelves are available in a selection of Cattelan Italia Ceramic Marmi finishes, allowing Tonic to move from quiet and understated to much more dramatic.
Options include Alabastro, Matt Portoro, Glossy Portoro, Makalu, Breccia, Corcovado, Kaindy and Colosseo. Each offers a different interpretation of stone and marble-inspired pattern, giving the trolley a more individual character depending on the surrounding interior.
Canaletto Walnut or Burned Oak
The lower shelf is available in either Canaletto walnut or burned oak, introducing natural timber into the otherwise highly architectural combination of ceramic and metal.
Canaletto walnut gives Tonic a warmer and more classic character, while burned oak creates a darker, more contemporary expression. Both finishes provide a deliberate visual contrast against the ceramic surfaces above.
Titanium or Bronze Frame
The structure is available in titanium or bronze lacquered finishes. The tall metal band defines the outline of all three shelves, helping visually connect the different materials while simultaneously concealing the trolley’s wheels.
Titanium gives the design a cooler, more architectural look, while bronze introduces additional warmth and works particularly well alongside the wood and richer ceramic finishes.
Made for Entertaining
Tonic gives bottles, glassware and cocktail accessories a dedicated place within the living room without requiring a permanent fitted bar. When guests arrive, the integrated wheels allow the trolley to move closer to the seating or dining area before returning to its usual position afterwards.
It can be styled as a traditional drinks trolley, used as a compact home cocktail bar or simply kept as a decorative piece displaying favourite bottles, glassware and objects.
A Freestanding Home Bar for Contemporary Interiors
Because the mobility is visually hidden, Tonic works particularly well in design-led interiors where a conventional drinks trolley might feel too utilitarian. The asymmetric structure, marble-effect surfaces and timber shelf allow it to read as a considered part of the furniture scheme.
Position it within a living room, dining room or entertaining space and customise the combination of ceramic, timber and frame finish to coordinate with the wider interior.
