Collina Strada Plaid is the product of a genuine cross-disciplinary collaboration: New York-based fashion brand Collina Strada, founded by Hillary Taymour, brings its intuitive, spontaneous design energy, while LAYERED’s artisans translate it into rigorous, hand-tufted craftsmanship. The result bridges the bold, expressive world of fashion with solid, considered interior design — a rug that reads as genuinely artistic rather than purely decorative.
What sets this rug apart is its surface. Crafted from 100% wool on a durable cotton backing, each rug is hand-carved by skilled artisans into two distinct pile heights — a 12mm low pile and a 17mm high pile — worked together to capture the fluidity and movement of Collina Strada’s original plaid pattern. The result is a genuinely three-dimensional, architecturally structured surface with real tactile variation underfoot, quite unlike a flat, single-height weave.
True to Collina Strada’s ethos — a platform for self-expression and emotional storytelling that balances humour with sincerity — the Plaid design is offered in two distinctly different moods. Haze takes a softer, more muted colour direction, while Garden Pop leans into a brighter, more energetic palette, so you can choose the version that best suits the character of your room. As with any hand-tufted, hand-carved rug, colours can appear slightly differently depending on lighting and surroundings.
Each colourway is available in four standard sizes — 180×270cm, 200×300cm, 250×350cm and 300×400cm — as well as a full bespoke sizing service, with custom lengths from 140cm to 1800cm and widths from 75cm to 500cm. Because each rug is handcrafted individually, slight natural size variation of up to 3cm is normal, and custom orders cannot be cancelled once production begins.
