Description
Natural Materials, Sculptural Proportions
The Bolia Piro Coffee Table combines Scandinavian restraint with the weight and character of natural materials. Designed by Danish designer Michael H. Nielsen, its simple circular form is built around a distinctive conical pedestal and substantial stone plinth.
The result is a coffee table that feels calm and balanced from every angle. Rather than relying on decorative detail, Piro allows proportion, craftsmanship and the natural variation of wood and stone to create its character.
Designed by Michael H. Nielsen
Michael H. Nielsen’s work is defined by an attention to detail and the small elements that distinguish one design from another. His approach places particular importance on the relationship between designer, material and craftsman.
With Piro, that philosophy can be seen in the way the tabletop, tapered column and heavy stone base have been reduced to a small number of carefully considered forms.
The coffee table develops the same design language as the wider Piro dining-table collection, bringing its substantial pedestal construction into a lower format designed for contemporary living spaces.
Oak, Marble and Travertine
Piro can be configured with a choice of oak veneer, marble or travertine surfaces, allowing the same silhouette to take on very different expressions.
Oak veneer introduces warmth and visible grain, with finishes including Oiled Oak, Dark Oiled Oak and White Pigmented Oiled Oak. The carefully selected veneer gives each table subtle natural variation rather than a completely uniform surface.
For a stronger stone-led expression, Piro is also available with natural marble or Sand Travertine. The variation, veining and tonal movement found within natural stone mean that every table has its own individual character.
The Piro Pedestal
The defining feature of Piro is its central conical column. The tapered form creates a clean, uninterrupted silhouette beneath the round tabletop while keeping the surrounding seating area free from conventional corner legs.
At floor level, the column meets a substantial marble or travertine plinth. This heavier base visually anchors the table and creates the sense of stability and calm that defines the Piro collection.
The contrast between the lighter timber column and natural stone base is particularly effective in configurations such as White Pigmented Oiled Oak with Sand Travertine, where warm neutral tones allow the different materials to sit quietly alongside one another.
Two Sizes for Different Living Spaces
The Piro Coffee Table is available in Ø60cm and Ø90cm sizes, allowing the design to work in both compact and more generous seating arrangements.
The smaller version works naturally beside an armchair or within a tighter living-room layout, while the larger Ø90cm table creates a stronger central focal point in front of a sofa or within a larger seating group.
Exact height, weight and construction details vary depending on the selected tabletop and base configuration.
FSC™-Certified Scandinavian Design
Piro is an FSC™-certified design, reflecting Bolia’s wider focus on traceable wood and carefully selected natural materials.
The timber components use oak veneer alongside engineered structural materials, while selected versions incorporate natural marble or travertine sourced for their unique colour and surface variation.
Bolia manufactures the Piro series through specialist European furniture production, combining engineered construction with natural materials selected for longevity and visual character.
A Coffee Table Designed for Gathering
Piro was conceived around the idea of creating a natural gathering point. Its circular tabletop makes the surface equally accessible from different sides, while the single central pedestal keeps the composition visually open.
In a larger living room, the Ø90cm version can anchor the seating area between sofas and armchairs. The smaller Ø60cm table can work independently or introduce a second surface elsewhere within the room.

Caring for the Bolia Piro Coffee Table
Care requirements depend on the chosen material. Oak veneer should be cleaned gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dried afterwards. Avoid abrasive cleaning products and prolonged moisture.
Marble and travertine are natural stone materials and should be protected from acidic liquids, oils and prolonged spills. Use coasters where possible and wipe spills promptly to reduce the risk of staining or marking. Always follow Bolia’s specific care guidance for the selected finish.
