Design House Stockholm Aria Table

from £445.00

The Design House Stockholm Aria Table has an effortless lightness that almost makes its solid oak top appear to float. Slender tapered legs rise just beyond the tabletop, holding it delicately in place while creating a beautiful tension between weight and air.

Designed by Icelandic designer Dögg Guðmundsdóttir, Aria takes its name from both opera and the feeling of air itself. The result is a table that feels calm, expressive and distinctly Scandinavian; simple enough to live with every day, yet considered enough to become a focal point.

Available in different heights, diameters and oak finishes, Aria can be used alone or paired with a second table to create a layered composition around a sofa or lounge area.

A Coffee Table That Appears to Float

The Design House Stockholm Aria Table is built around a simple visual illusion. Its circular tabletop appears almost separated from the structure beneath, with tapered legs rising slightly above the rim to hold the top securely while preserving the impression that it is suspended in the air.

The effect gives Aria an unusually light appearance for a table made predominantly from solid oak. From a distance the form feels simple and quiet; viewed more closely, the relationship between the tabletop, legs and small gaps between them reveals the detail behind the design.

Designed by Dögg Guðmundsdóttir

Aria was designed by Icelandic designer Dögg Guðmundsdóttir, who lives and works in Copenhagen. The name draws inspiration from both the musical aria and the sense of air and movement that defines the table’s appearance.

The design was first shown at The Cabinetmaker’s Autumn Exhibition at Øregaard Museum in Copenhagen in 2015. Design House Stockholm later developed the idea into the production collection, expanding the original proportions and creating versions that could be combined at different heights.

The standard Aria Table was introduced by Design House Stockholm in 2022, with the larger 90cm version extending the collection further in 2025.

Crafted from Solid Oak

Aria is made from solid oak with a polyurethane lacquered finish and is reinforced underneath with powder-coated steel components.

The use of solid timber gives the table reassuring weight and durability while allowing the natural grain of the oak to remain visible across the broad circular surface.

Design House Stockholm applies carefully built-up finishes to the timber, creating a smooth surface while allowing the underlying wood grain to remain part of the character of the piece.

Oak Finishes

The Aria collection is available in several oak finishes depending on the chosen size, including Oak, Light Oak and Dark Oak.

Natural Oak gives the table its warmest and most traditional Scandinavian expression, allowing the timber grain to remain particularly visible. Dark Oak creates greater contrast within lighter interiors, while Light Oak gives the form an even softer and quieter appearance.

The larger 90cm Aria is currently produced in Oak and Dark Oak finishes.

Designed to Work Alone or as a Pair

One of the most considered aspects of the Aria collection is the relationship between its different heights.

The lower table can slide partially beneath the taller version, allowing two circular surfaces to overlap and create a more dynamic arrangement. Used together, the tables provide additional surface area while retaining the lightness of the original design.

Used alone, the larger Ø90cm version becomes a more substantial central coffee table for a living-room seating arrangement.

The Ø90cm Aria Coffee Table

The larger Aria Table measures 90cm in diameter and is available in both Low and High versions.

The Low version measures Ø90 × H30cm, creating a broad, low surface that works particularly well in front of contemporary sofas and modular seating.

The High version measures Ø90 × H42.5cm, bringing the tabletop closer to conventional side-table height while retaining the same generous diameter.

Both versions weigh approximately 13.3kg and retain the same solid-oak construction and characteristic tapered legs.

Smaller Aria Tables

The wider collection also includes more compact versions for smaller spaces and occasional use.

The standard Low Aria Table measures Ø50 × H37cm, while the High Aria Table measures Ø60 × H46cm.

These smaller proportions make Aria particularly versatile beside an armchair or sofa and allow different sizes to be combined into a layered composition rather than relying on one large central table.

Scandinavian Design by Design House Stockholm

Aria reflects the wider philosophy of Design House Stockholm, a Swedish design brand that works much like a publishing house, developing individual ideas from independent designers rather than following one fixed house style.

In Aria, that approach results in a table that is visually restrained but driven by a clear idea: solid oak furniture that somehow feels as though it is floating.

Designed for Contemporary Living Rooms

The broad circular top of the Ø90cm Aria works particularly well within a larger seating area, where its rounded shape softens the straight lines of sofas, rugs and cabinetry.

Its lack of sharp corners also makes circulation around the table feel more natural, particularly when it sits between several seating pieces rather than directly in front of one sofa.

Pair Aria with one of RB12’s designer sofas or armchairs, or explore the wider coffee tables and side tables collection.

Caring for the Design House Stockholm Aria Table

Clean the Aria Table using a soft, damp cloth and dry the surface afterwards. Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals that may damage the lacquered oak finish.

Use coasters beneath wet or hot objects and wipe spills promptly to help protect the timber surface over time.
