Description
The Melt Fat Table Light is part of Tom Dixon’s iconic mission to reinvent the modern lamp. By experimenting with vacuum thin-film deposition, the Melt series achieves a unique luminosity that shifts with the light. The “Fat” variation provides a more substantial, rounded silhouette, creating an even more dramatic play of light and reflection.
What defines the Melt Fat is its transformative nature. When the light is switched off, the orb presents a perfectly smooth, solid mirror finish—acting as a sculptural piece that reflects the surrounding room. Once illuminated, the surface becomes translucent, revealing a mesmerizing, “hot-blown” internal world that evokes the depth of a melting glacier or molten glass.
Each Melt Fat orb is made in Germany using high-precision blow-moulding and vacuum techniques. This industrial process ensures that every lamp has its own unique, organic character. The orb is perched upon a weighted, tube-shaped table base, providing a clean, architectural contrast to the fluid, “melted” form of the glass.
The Melt Fat comes equipped with an integrated LED module, specifically designed to distribute light evenly across the internal curves of the orb. This creates a warm, atmospheric glow without visible bulbs, ensuring the focus remains entirely on the stunning optical effects of the metallised surface.
Whether placed on a sideboard, a bedside table, or a desk, the Melt Fat Table Light is a distinctive character in any space. Its proportions and clean lines make it a refined detail both day and night, perfect for interiors that require a balance of high-tech manufacturing and organic beauty.
